IC 1805 is a vast emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. Its hydrogen gas, ionized by the hot, massive stars of the open cluster Melotte 15, glows in the deep red of the H-alpha line. Its distance is still debated; the most commonly cited figure is about 7,500 light-years.
