Chapter II · The crossing
You are on your way.
Straight ahead, a red ember is growing: the Rosette Nebula, five thousand light-years away, in the constellation Monoceros. A moment ago it was only a point of light. That red is hydrogen, lit by the young stars born at its heart. Nothing here was drawn, nothing was invented: all of it exists, right now, above you. And it is only the first.
Chapter III · The revelation
Choose a real nebula.
The Rosette is already slipping behind you. The collection holds dozens more, each with its own color, its own distance, its own character, and you will choose them from photographs, not from names. Far ahead, a blue glow is rising along your path. Watch it come: it looks like nothing you have seen.
Chapter IV · The light
Step into their light.
This is the Helix Nebula, known as the Eye of God: a dying star that has breathed its outer layers into an almost perfect ring, six hundred and fifty light-years away. At the center of that pupil burns its bare heart. In a few billion years our Sun will end the same way. You are no longer looking at it: it is looking at you.
Chapter V · The fragment
Reserve them a fraction of the sky.
Farther on, the Pillars of Creation are already rising: columns of gas and dust light-years tall, inside the Eagle Nebula. Hubble photographed them in 1995, and stars are still forming there. In our private registry, a share of that fragment is waiting for a first name, a date, a few words. Nothing changes in the sky. This light, though, will carry the name you choose.
Chapter VI · The gift
A gift that never fades.
Flowers last a week; objects end up forgotten in a drawer. A nebula takes its time. An elegant certificate, an immersive gift page, a memory that carries across the years: for a birthday, a love, a new baby, or someone dearly remembered.
Chapter VII · Yours
Which fragment of the Universe will you give?
Here is Orion, the last of them. The most famous of all, thirteen hundred light-years away, thousands of newborn stars and, around them, disks of matter where planets are taking shape. It is also the only nebula on this journey you can find again on your own: a pale veil below the three stars of the belt, on winter nights. The journey ends here. The choosing begins.
